Three Dimensional Design
Eunnuri Cho
Beginning of unit3&4 I was struggling got stuck easily and had many problems with researches and figure out what I need to do. However, through these units I had many experiences and learn from the experiences, learn from friends, learn wile researching, learn from working with machines and companies so at the end of these projects I saw myself grown up a little bit.
I made many mistake and had many troubles with the clock project but through this all the problems I learnt many knowledge such as when I am making really model now I know how to calculate, measure, working with mechanisms and what machine to use. Also I worked with laser cutting a lot for this project and I found out that they are very useful because they are quicker, more accurate, cleaner and the results have better qualities than cutting by hands.
The clock project made me interested in laser cutting and similar types of process because laser cutting produce good quality of products and then it lead me to Rapid Prototyping. It made me curious whether making 3D models by laser can produce high quality products in short time like laser cutting. It was hard to contact or get replies from companies that I found. After all the 12 emails I got quarter of the companies’ reply and even two of them were not able. However, it was enough to find out about this process. I learnt more than what I wanted to know, even unexpected knowledge. I found out that laser cutting is more delicate and has more limitation than what I thought but it has very high qualities, quick and does not cost much than what I expected so once you get to know about this process you can use it in wide range and will be one of the greatest processes to use. I learnt a lot about this process through the research so I think I am ready to use it in the future for my projects.
Finally, for Lido project honestly we did not have many things to make as other group but had to do many experiment with materials, boat, bottles and bunt to float on water. Also we had to find out easy way to make boats for children as well. We had problems with finding materials and other problems but everyone worked hardly together and tried to take a part so we solve them out quickly.
Through these units I learnt a lot how to find companies that I want and how to contact and communicate with them. Also learnt a lot about the processes and the relationship between the machines and the materials. Furthermore, I always had a problem with researching but after these projects I got more strength with my research. I learnt how and where to start my research, how to do deeper research and what I need to prepare before the researches. My secondary researches are still weak but I got more strength and ability to find out the problems and solve them so I will improve step by step and make myself stronger.
